Always trim your wood wick before each light! Simply pinch off the charred wood from the previous light, or use a wick trimmer for a cleaner cut. Wicks should be about 1/4" each time the candle is lit. The most common reason for wood wick candles not staying lit is a wick that is too long.
In order to ensure your candle will not tunnel over time, give your candle ample time to melt to the edge the first time you light it. This can take up to 4 hours.
And as always, remember not to light the candle near anything flammeble: fabrics, curtains, house plants, etc. Keep candle away from pets and children. Do not light for longer than 4 hours at a time. Be careful handling candle when it is lit as the jar can be very hot.
Let me tell you a story...
“I traced my finger along the leather bindings of my grandparents' large book collection. Their old library was off-limits and I never knew why. When I asked, I was told 'because there aren't any children's books in there.' Judging by the stuffy old titles in gold-leaf lettering, they were right.
My finger paused on a strange looking book tightly sandwiched between two thick volumes. What could this be? I pulled it out with some difficulty and peered at the title adorned with curly letters. I opened the book and my heart started to pound. It was a book of spells! Just as I realized what I was holding, a soft breeze started teasing through my hair. Soft whispers came from every corner of the room. I shut the book in a panic, dropping it on the floor, and ran out of the library."
