wooden wick candle care tips
- Always trim your wood wick before each light! Simply pinch off the charred wood from the previous light, or use a wick trimmer for a cleaner cut. Wicks should be about 1/4" each time the candle is lit. The most common reason for wood wick candles not staying lit is a wick that is too long.
- In order to ensure your candle will not tunnel over time, give your candle ample time to melt to the edge the first time you light it. This can take up to 4 hours
- remember not to light the candle near anything flammeble: fabrics, curtains, house plants, etc. Keep candle away from pets and children. Do not light for longer than 4 hours at a time. Be careful handling candle when it is lit as the jar can be very hot.
Let me tell you a story...
The cherry of the old mariner's cigar cast an orange glow into the dark, salty sea air. "You say you want to hear why I never go out into the water on the full moon?" he asked with a warning in his gravely voice.
"It was a cloudy night many years ago. The water was black as pitch when a rolling fog fell across the deck of our shop. The vast outline of a galleon with torn black sails was revealed looming over us as moonlight crept from behind the clouds. Its ghostly passengers were standing on deck staring down at us. I'll never forget those evil, glowing eyes."
He stopped and exhaled his cigar smoke. "Our ship went down taking my entire crew with it shortly after the black sails disappeared. The sound of the ocean taking them all below the surface haunts me every night. I stand here tonight to honor their memory, but I'll never sail on a full moon again."
